The main object of leaving expansion gaps is to prevent the damages caused by the expansion, contraction or horizontal movements in the building. Thus, great importance should be given for the profile choice. Wrong preference may cause cracks on the surface or even serious breaks at the edges.
One should answer the below in order to choose the right profile;
-What is the gap?
-Which type do you consider to use, top finishing or under finisihing (if you still did not make the finishing, it is best to use the under finisihing type for it would be much more aesthetic in terms of appearance)?
-If you prefer to use under finisihing, what is your height fort he finishing material (ceramic, granite, marble etc)?
-What is your load bearing capacity (pedestarian, automobil, truck, forklift etc)?
-What horizontal movement capacity (+/- w) do you need (especially important for soft grounds)?
-Do you have chemical effects (like milk factory etc)?
